Helmet Tracker is a sports equipment technology and logistics company that offers a comprehensive set of software application services and technology solutions for the sports equipment industry. We serve youth leagues, schools, colleges, and professional sports teams. We also work closely with many manufacturers and reconditioners of sports equipment.
We’ve been fortunate to work with many equipment industry leaders and their organizations. Youth leagues, schools, colleges, professional clubs, reconditioners, and helmet manufacturers rely on Helmet Tracker. We also value the relationship we have with the Athletics Equipment Managers Associations (AEMA) by providing tracking services for their continuing education efforts.
Investing in people, practical designs, and customer-focused service
Our values do not change: Have fun, produce good work, deliver the best service in the business, treat people right, tell the truth, innovate, pay attention to the details, and try to have a positive impact on the world around us.
We’re also big believers in running a good business and providing exceptional customer service. It a noisey and complex world, so we try to keep things relevant and easy to use. Simplification has always worked to the advantage of Helmet Tracker and our customers.
Helmet Tracker is always at your service.
After meeting the needs of one high school football coach in Dallas, Texas who was spending inordinate time and paper to inventory equipment, we refocused our web-building business to meet the needs of the sports equipment industry to reduce administrative time and improve equipment tracking processes.
That’s when things took off, from Texas to Washington state, from Florida to California, Massachusetts, Ohio, Colorado, and all points in between.
One Friday over a lunch of Manicotti, Rich convinced Rick to knock on the office door and introduce ourselves to the NOCSAE Executive Director, Mike Oliver. Our plan to drop off business cards turned into an afternoon of a shared vision: to leverage information on equipment used to help improve the overall safety of football.
Soon, NOCSAE launched a three-year pilot to build the NOCSAE Helmet Tracking database now used by manufacturers, reconditioners, leagues, schools, colleges, and professional teams. With our software, NOCSAE tracks the full life-cycle and recertification history of each helmet, from its manufacturing date to its retirement date ten years later. Companies are now tagging thousands of helmets everyday.
In 2020, Helmet Tracker’s capabilities will continue to increase within all of our Helmet Tracker applications.
We do recognize our software capabilities and services are expanding way beyond our company name. We do much more than just track helmets.
We offer two equipment software applications that help manage inventory and equipment for all different sports. Equipment Ops is designed for equipment managers, and HT Recon is built for athletic equipment reconditioning and manufacturing companies.
In addition to providing software applications services, our HT Innovations team designs and builds custom solutions for enterprise customers and innovative equipment managers who are making a difference in improving the safety of all athletes.
We will continue to seek and value simplicity, clarity, ease-of-use, and up-front honesty. This goes for our services and our company. We always focus and refocus on the aspects that are important and necessary, and we like to stick to the basics. Like good old-fashioned block and tackle football, we focus on the fundamentals. And, we know no one-size fits all. You won’t find us reselling generic, off-the-shelf inventory software. We build things that fit our customers well.
2020 marks our 8th year in business, yet this feels like just the beginning for us.
In 2017, Helmet Tracker created and sponsored the first National football helmet championship. We started a contest with 76 football conferences and 777 football teams. On January 8th, 2018, we crowned the first national helmet champion, Gallaudet University. It has been a fun and exciting contest. There are not too many places you can see a DIII school destroy a famous DI school, every team is on a level playing field.
It's a great come from behind victory and a great story. We look forward to what's instore for 2020. Trivia – Gallaudet invented the “Huddle“.
On January 9th, 2019, we crowned the second national helmet champion, Dickinson Red Devils. Yes, another DIII school.
On January 13th, 2020, we crowned the third national helmet champion, Nebraska Kearney Lopers. Our first DII school.
Helmet Tracker was started in 2012 by Rich Hardt and Rick Perkins. Today, we’re a company of ten people working. Our headquarters is in Lenexa, Kansas, but you can find us in equipment rooms and reconditioner shops.
