The Florida State Seminoles continue to WOW us with their overall voting strength. Yet they cannot get enough tallied in a single week to score a Helmet Bowl ACC point. Week 3 sees the Tarheels of North Carolina overcome FSU and Syracuse to score their first point. Now the ACC is locked up with the Orange, Miami Hurricanes, and Tarheels with one point each. Who wants it?

Kansas State wins their third Week in a row in the Big 12 polls. Kansas Jayhawks fans, maybe looking for something to do after three straight losses on the field, sneaked up and nearly overtook the Wildcats in Week 3. This one could develop into a real fight!

The Big 10 came on strong in Week 3. During a strong second half on the field in West Lafayette, the Michigan Wolverines also scored big in Week 3 Saturday. They overtook the Boilermakers in the poll, then overtook the Maryland Terrapins to grab the point and take the overall lead over the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The SEC, a powerhouse in college football but a dud so far in Helmet Bowl, saw the Mississippi Rebels with a late push to overcome the Arkansas Razorbacks who lead most of the week. The Rebels victory creates a three-way tie for first place with Georgia and Tennessee who all have one point each.

The Valdosta State Blazers posted huge numbers for this lid and take a strong lead in the Division II Gulf South Conference.

Again we turn our attention to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Conference where the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri finally overcame the Central Missouri Mules to win Week 3. The Mules ruled Weeks 1 and 2, and Week 3 through Sunday night, then an avalanche of votes came in from Maryville and it was all over. Can they do it again in Week 4? This is a fight, folks. And one to watch. Adding to the excitement, the Mules and Bearcats meet on the field at Arrowhead Stadium Saturday.
