There are three weeks, and three points, left in the Helmet Bowl Conference Championships.
In the Heart of America Athletic Conference three teams are within one vote of each other in total votes for the Helmet Bowl ConferenceChampionship: MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers have one more total vote than the Culver-Stockton Wildcats who have one more vote than the Benedictine Ravens. Here’s why that matters: If teams tie in points earned, then the total number of votes determines the Conference Champion. In the Heart of America, Culver-Stockton won Week 7 to gain the point, vaulting them over Avila and MidAmerica who was tied for the lead, but now fall one-half point back on the Conference standings. The Ravens are just one point back. This is an entertaining Conference to watch.

In the Ivy League, the Dartmouth Big Green and Princeton Tigers have the same number of total votes.
Does it matter? Yale won Week 7, bringing its total to 4.5 points in the Conference standings. With three weeks left, only Princeton can tie the Bulldogs if they win Weeks 8, 9, and 10. Then, total votes will determine the Ivy League Champ. We’re watching!

The 12 Conferences with the least amount of total votes in Helmet Bowl forfeit their opportunity to advance their Conference Champion to the National Helmet Bowl Championship. Conferences with the least number of total votes (the least number is listed first) at the end of seven of 10 weeks (with the current leader) are:
- Division II Independent Conference (UNC Pembroke)
- Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (Lane)
- Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (Tie: Benedictine, Concordia Chicago, and CUW)
- Commonwealth Coast Conference (Endicott)
- Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (St. Thomas)
College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (Illinois Wesleyan*)
- Massachusetts State
- Collegiate Athletic Conference (Bridgewater State)
- Midwest Conference (Beloit)
- Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (Finlandia)
- Presidents' Athletic Conference (Thomas More)
- Middle Atlantic Conference (Misericordia)
- North Coast Athletic Conference (Oberlin)
- *IWU Titans have won their conference
7
- Gulf South Conference
- Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
- Mountain West Conference
- Eastern Collegiate Football Conference
- Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Conference

The Top 5 Teams with the most number of votes in Week 7 are:
- Florida Tech Panthers
- Valdosta State Blazers
- Gallaudet Bison
- NW Missouri State Bearcats
- Bethune-Cookman Wildcats

In the Atlantic Coast, Miami came out strong and tallied more than twice the votes Clemson gathered to win Week 7 and double their standings points total to 2. They trail Syracuse by two points, but interestingly the Orange and the Hurricanes have exactly the same number of total votes for the Helmet Bowl Conference Championship.

Just six votes separate the top four teams in the Southland Conference in terms of total votes cast:
- Central Arkansas Bears
- Abilene Christian Wildcats
- Incarnate Word Cardinals
- McNeese State Cowboys
Interestingly, the Stephen A. Austin Lumberjacks led the Southland with four weekly victory points. The only way the Bears, Wildcats, Cowboys, or the Northwestern State Demons can beat the Lumberjacks is to have one of these teams win all three weeks remaining, tie the Lumberjacks in points, but have more total votes.

A late Sunday surge sends the Ohio State Buckeyes to victory in Week 7 over the Maryland Terps in the Big 10. Ohio, who decorates their helmet with the misery of other teams, gains one point on the Michigan Wolverines who now lead by two with three weeks left.

Six of the seven Undefeated Teams dropped Week 7 this week.
The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays drop from the ranks of the Undefeated Teams at the hands of the Moravian Greyhounds in the Centennial Conference.
Additionally, the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls absolutely crushed the Bowie State Bulldogs in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Army got doubled up in the FBS Independent League. Notre Dame woke from its Helmet Bowl Slumber and scored big.
The Florida Tech Panthers defeated the mighty Valdosta State Blazers by just eight votes. Valdosta has amassed the most votes, total, in the entire country!
Speaking of mighty teams, the Howard Bison are forced to split the Week 7 point with the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats who matched the Bison vote for vote. This drops Howard from the undefeated ranks.
This is crazy. The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors awoke in Week 6, but fell short of the San Diego State Aztecs. In Week 7 they overcame, knocking the Aztecs from the ranks of the undefeated.
Still, the Jays, Bulldogs, Black Knights, Blazers, Bison, and Azetcs are qualified for the National Championship.
Other teams who qualified this week are:
Navy Midshipmen, Georgia State Panthers, Kennesaw State Owls, Eastern Illinois Panthers, UVA-Wise Highland Cavaliers, UMD Bulldogs, Cheney Wolves, Illinois Wesleyan Titans, Endicott Gulls, Oberlin Yeomen, and Idaho Coyotes.
Joining them in Qualifying are:
The Central Michigan Chippewas, Kansas State Wildcats, Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags. These teams cannot be caught! Congratulations.
Remember, a team’s seeding in the 64-team National Championship bracket is based on its total number of votes, so keep voting!

The Central Michigan Chippewas remain the only undefeated team in the Helmet Bowl Conference Championship. They have won all 7 weeks, collecting 8 points and now are the only team who can win out and amass all 11 points possible.
