In the Mountain West Conference, the San Diego State Aztecs walk away with the Week 1 win. Assistant Director of Athletic Equipment Services Sonny Sanfilippo sent us a killer new helmet image early in voting. Did that spike poll results?

The Central Michigan Chippewas big helmet headdress took a very strong Thursday vote to the winner’s circle in the Mid American Conference.

Syracuse wins the Atlantic Coast Conference Week 1 and maybe should push all their winning efforts toward Helmet Bowl. Is the season lost for the Orange on the field?

3

Kansas State Wildcats win the Big 12 in a Big Way. Huge numbers. Will they push for more in Week 2? Will they even contend?

The Mid America Intercollegiate Athletic Conference saw a seesaw battle between the Mules of Central Missouri and the Northwest Missouri Bearcats. Mules take Week 1 but there is no guarantee for Week 2.

Equipment Managers from about a dozen colleges sent us new helmet images for Week 1 and pushed the vote for their schools! Helmet Bowl I would not exist without these professionals who seem to know how to do anything and willingly serve whomever they come into contact with. Thank you!

Equipment Managers: send Helmet Images to Helmet Bowl I

August 18, 2017 By Jeff Zogg

Equipment Managers are the unsung heroes of every college football program. Here’s your chance to become the MVP of your team in Helmet Bowl I.

Helmet Tracker will crown the greatest, coolest, best-designed college football helmet in America. We do not limit the helmet contenders to DI schools, or even DII.

Article ImageEvery college football helmet is a contender.

We call it Helmet Bowl I and it launches Tuesday, September 5.

Learn more at HelmetBowl.com.

EQUIPMENT MANAGERS, please do two quick things:

 1. Check your team’s helmet image in your conference poll–is it the one you want?

 2. Get the word out to your student body and fans to vote!

Article ImageIt works like this:

Please send alternative helmet images to HelmetBowl@HelmetTracker.com. Please include the date you would like the helmet image to appear in the poll and the date you’d like to revert to the current image or tell us you want the new image to replace the current one for the entirety of Helmet Bowl I.

Questions? Equipment Managers and others should contact Jeff Zogg, Helmet Bowl Commissioner, with any questions at HelmetBowl@HelmetTracker.com.

Helmet Bowl I

August 14, 2017 By Jeff Zogg

Jump over the Helmet Bowl II to see this year's action.

For the first time ever, together we will determine and crown the
greatest, coolest, best designed college football helmet in America. Is it the Tiger Paw, the scripted A, the Spartan, or the Longhorn? It could be the Howling Coyote of the College of Idaho or the Snarling Bobcat of Peru State. Every single one has a chance to be crowned the Helmet Bowl I National Champion.Every.Single.One.Here is the first look: Visit HelmetBowl.com. Helmet Bowl I begins September 5.Every one of the 777 colleges playing football this year has a helmet which could win Helmet Bowl I. You'll find them all at HelmetBowl.com.

Fans will vote

You, the fan, will determine which helmet is greatest. Weekly polls will determine Conference Champions, then a National Champion. Every student and fan can vote in each Conference every week.

It works like this:

First, each college football conference, from the DI powerhouses to the underdog NAIAs, will compete in a 10-week polling contest to crown conference champions.

Champions enter a 128-team national bracket. Winners of each weekly contest receive a point and the team with the most points at the end of the 10 weeks wins the Conference.

Then, conference runners’ up will compete for one week to fill the remaining slots in the 128-team, four-region, national bracket.

For seven weeks, starting at Thanksgiving, teams will compete weekly to advance through the bracket, from 128 to 64, to 32, 16, 8, 4 and finally the top two teams the week prior to the National Championship.

The Helmet Bowl I Champion will be crowned January 8, 2018.

College Equipment Managers for each team may substitute any official helmet design for every week their team is in contention.

Watch for announcements on Helmet Tracker’s Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. Helmet Bowl I information, polls, and rules can be found at HelmetBowl.com.

Helmet Bowl I begins September 5.
